to whom it may concern: sleeping patterns, priorities, powder boycott...

it's been a while since i've written a 'personal update' on here -- in fact, it's been a while since i've written anything on here -- and i thought i'd write out some little tidbits about what's been going on in the charming little world of lauren as of late...

sleeping patterns. mine are seriously messed up. the most common routine lately is to go to sleep at 10:30 p.m., wake up and be WIDE AWAKE at 4:00 a.m., miss my 5:00 a.m. alarm for the gym (and all the other alarms i've set), and wake up at the late hour of 8:00 a.m. 'why is this a problem?' you may be asking. well, first of all, i'm missing morning gym (which i really do love, i've decided), and, second of all, i'm supposed to be at work at 8:30. solution: i've pretty much decided that if (and when) i wake up at 4:00 a.m. wide awake, i'm just going to get up then and go to the gym. i may be tired later on in the day, but i figure it's better to just go ahead and take advantage of the fact that i'm awake.

i've also been napping a lot lately (this has to explain the 4:00 a.m. wake-ups). on sundays especially.

valentine's day. i had the first really great valentine's day in years. i dressed up in festive red and pink, not knowing that later in the day i'd receive a delivery: a dozen of my very favorite flower, orange roses. justin did such a good job and i am so thankful for such a thoughtful gift.

{me and my mom with our valentine's flowers!}

priorities. i know i talk about this a lot, but it's something i really struggle with. like i was just discussing with lindsey, my car is so messy right now that every time i get into it, i want to cry. but, guess what? i've felt this way for a month, and i STILL haven't gotten around to cleaning it. this is pretty much the story of my life. i don't know why i procrastinate to this degree. i don't know why i feel like i'm so lazy. thus, i'm about to start a big effort toward getting things done, not-procrastinating, and you know, just generally being better at life.

being social. this is something i don't do enough of. ever since moving back home to shreveport after college, my social life has declined more and more. i know this is a natural progression, but sometimes i miss late nights with friends and laughter and hilarious conversations. which is why i'm glad i got to meet up with some friends last wednesday at superior for margaritas and chips and salsa!

another event that has happened recently is my friend jessica's WEDDING. justin and i attended the festivities on saturday, and it was sweet and beautiful. i'm so glad i got to be there to see her get married!

powder boycott. i've really been loving simple makeup, and this includes not wearing any powder whatsoever. i feel like my skin can breathe. and my face looks fresher and younger. we'll see how long this lasts, as i am a self-diagnosed makeup addict who often uses a heavy hand. but for now, i'm loving it.

in the coming month. march is always such a whirlwind, as so many birthdays and events seem to happen during those specific 31 days. i have plans in the works for both kara and justin's respective birthdays, and -  to tell you the truth - i'm pretty excited about the festivities to come. laura is also coming in town, and i couldn't be more excited to see her, as we have not hung out in quite a while. i hope march is as fun as i'm thinking it will be!

so that's pretty much all that's going on, besides school. justin is in monroe on rotations, which means i'm getting a lot of time to myself to work on projects and reading (but not cleaning out my car? who knows why). i'm hoping to finish up a certain project tonight, and i'm also helping dad with evals. i'm not even half way through 'the facebook effect,' and i really need to get a move-on, because 'the girl with the dragon tattoo' is up next and muchly anticipated.

Ummm I know someone who lives in Monroe that you can stay with to spend some time with Justin while he's on rotations. Just sayin:) And I gave up powder a while ago. I'm wanting to eventually give up foundation and bronzer but those will have claw marks on them buy the time I let them go.
